1.13.1 — The Creative Space mixer boost now works

  • Fixed — Audio mixer: member volume above 100% really boosts, without errors
    In the Creative Space audio mixer, setting a member's volume above 100% didn't actually make them louder, and once that person reconnected, the whole Space page could show an error. That error is gone. In desktop Chrome and Edge, member volume now goes up to 400% and really makes them louder; in other browsers and on phones it tops out at 100%. Very high settings can still distort.

1.13.0 — A page for Synchain Bridge and a new look for the site

  • New — A page for Synchain Bridge
    A new Synchain Bridge page, in English, Chinese and French, explains how the open-source plug-in sends your DAW's project audio into Creative Space untouched, without the noise suppression and echo cancellation of meeting apps, so everyone in the room hears it. You can download it right from the page. Synchain Bridge in the Open-source plug-ins menu now leads to this page, and the footer links to it too.
  • Improved — A new look for the site
    The home page has a new prism background and opens on a pearl vinyl disc. Content pages share the SCVB page's gradient and footer. Sign-in and sign-up use the same disc, with a seamless transition from the home page. Paging through the SCVB page is smoother too.
  • Fixed — Creative Space: one tap brings sound back when the browser blocks it
    In some mobile browsers that block autoplay, such as WeChat's built-in browser on Android, if you can't hear the others after joining a room, tapping anywhere on the page now turns the sound on. You no longer have to find the "Click to enable sound" button first.
  • Fixed — DAW Bridge card no longer overlaps in English and French
    In the Creative Space sidebar on wide screens, the port line and the Reconnect button on the DAW Bridge card used to run into each other in English and French. The button now moves to the next line when there isn't room.

1.12.0 — SCVB v0.10.0-beta.1 for Windows is now on the download page

  • Improved — SCVB v0.10.0-beta.1: new pre-release download for Windows
    The SCVB page now offers v0.10.0-beta.1 (Windows 10/11 x64, VST3), a pre-release, as the download. The same build is attached to its GitHub Release. A macOS (Apple Silicon) beta in VST3 and AU formats will follow; it is not available yet.
  • Fixed — SCVB: fewer silent passes and clearer routing warnings
    In projects where the host renders ahead or mixes live, looping and jumping back no longer leaves the whole pass silent. If SCVB keeps getting no data from a vocal track, it now shows a "Route mismatch" warning. A host pausing its calls to the Input track is no longer treated as a dropped connection. Bypassing the only SCVB Input now brings the bus back to its original sound. The zoom drop-down is the same everywhere.

1.11.0 — Synchain Bridge 1.6.0 with AAX for Pro Tools (Beta), and upgrade steps that remove the old version first

  • New — Synchain Bridge 1.6.0: AAX for Pro Tools on Windows (Beta)
    Synchain Bridge now comes in an AAX build for Avid Pro Tools on Windows x64, in beta. It is PACE-signed, so retail Pro Tools loads it. It is a separate download on the download page, with its own install steps and a list of known limitations. The VST3 and AU builds move to 1.6.0 as well. The macOS AAX build has not been released yet.
  • Fixed — Upgrade steps that remove the old version first
    The install steps on the download page now tell you to delete the old Synchain Bridge before putting the new one in place, on Windows and on macOS: copying over an existing plug-in folder merges the two and leaves files from the old version behind. On macOS, the steps also clear the cached Audio Unit information, so your DAW stops seeing the old version.

1.10.2 — Clearer DAW Bridge connection help, pages that recover after updates, and an anonymous visit counter

  • Fixed — DAW Bridge tells you when your browser blocks it
    Recent versions of Chrome and Edge ask for your permission before a web page can reach apps on your computer, such as Synchain Bridge. If that permission is blocked, the DAW Bridge card in Creative Space now says “Blocked by browser” and lists the steps to allow it again; once you do, it reconnects by itself. While the browser's permission prompt is open, the card waits for your answer instead of giving up after a few seconds. Synchain Bridge also connects when it runs on a port other than the default, and if the plug-in refuses the page's address, the card says so instead of retrying in vain.
  • Fixed — Pages recover by themselves after an update
    If we published a new version of the site while you had a page open, part of that page could fail to load and show an error. The page now refreshes itself once to pick up the new version — but not while an upload is in progress.
  • Security — An anonymous visit counter, and an updated privacy policy
    Alongside Google Analytics, Synchain now keeps its own anonymous counts: how often each public page is viewed and for roughly how long, how many plug-in downloads are started, and how many people join projects. Only hourly totals are stored — no cookies, no IP addresses and no identifiers — so this counting also covers synchain.cn and does not depend on the consent card, which now applies to Google Analytics only. The privacy policy explains exactly what is counted.

1.10.1 — An Open-source plug-ins menu, and login help in the CLI

  • Improved — Open-source plug-ins in the top navigation
    In the site's top navigation, “Download & Install” is now “Open-source plug-ins”. It opens a panel of cards for Synchain Bridge, SCVB and the Synchain CLI, each with a one-line summary and a direct link: the Synchain Bridge download page, the SCVB page, or the “Install the CLI” step of the quickstart. In the footer, the link to the Synchain Bridge download page is now called “Download Synchain Bridge”, the same as the page's own title.
  • Improved — Login help built into the CLI
    Synchain CLI 0.10.0 is out: synchain --help now tells you where to generate a CLI key (Settings → CLI Access) and how to log in, either interactively or without a prompt in CI and scripts (with the PowerShell form spelled out), and lists the environment variables the CLI reads. To update, run npm i -g @synchain/cli.

1.10.0 — SCVB, a new open-source plug-in

  • New — SCVB: automatic vocal balancing
    SCVB (Synchain Vocal Balancer) is our new free, open-source plug-in: it analyses every part of a multi-singer vocal arrangement together and writes pan and level automation for each track, so you no longer draw it by hand. The new SCVB page shows how it works and offers a pre-release download for Windows 10/11, in VST3 format. It runs on its own and needs no Synchain account.
  • Improved — Download SCVB from the dashboard
    The Open-source plug-ins section in the dashboard menu now has an SCVB card below Synchain Bridge, with the download and install notes.

1.9.1 — Synchain Bridge 1.5.3, and a quickstart guide

  • Fixed — Synchain Bridge 1.5.3 for Windows and macOS
    The plug-in window on Windows no longer flashes white when it opens. Windows users move straight from 1.3.1 to 1.5.3; when upgrading, delete the old version first, then put the new one in.
  • Improved — Open source and checksums on the download page
    The download page now links the Bridge source code (GPL-3.0) and release notes, and lists a SHA-256 checksum for each package.
  • Improved — CLI setup help, and a new Open-source plug-ins section
    Settings → CLI Access now shows how to install and log in to the CLI, and the dashboard menu has a new Open-source plug-ins section with the Synchain Bridge downloads.
  • Improved — Get the plug-in from Creative Space
    When no plug-in is connected, the DAW Bridge card links the download; if yours is out of date, it tells you.
  • New — A new quickstart guide
    A step-by-step guide from sign-up to your first CLI command and API call.

1.9.0 — Custom project IDs, and Synchain Bridge on macOS

  • New — Give your project a custom ID
    When you create a project you can now choose a short, readable ID — like my-band — instead of only the generated UUID, and set or change it later in project settings. Share it as a link (/projects/my-band) or as plain text: people can paste either the ID or the full link into the join box. Hyphens don't count, so my-band and myband are the same ID.
  • New — Synchain Bridge now runs on macOS
    The plug-in that streams your DAW's audio straight into the room now ships for Apple Silicon Macs as VST3 and Audio Unit, alongside the Windows VST3 build. The download button picks your platform automatically, and the download page lists both with their own install steps.
  • Improved — A nudge toward the install steps
    Clicking a download now opens a short reminder that points you to the install steps for your platform, so the plug-in doesn't sit unpacked in your downloads folder. On macOS this includes the one-time command needed before the first load.

1.8.0 — Uploads you can watch, and a sharper screen share

  • New — An upload panel that tells you what is happening
    Files now upload from a queue in a panel that stays with you as you move around Synchain, so you no longer have to sit on the files page and watch. Each file shows its progress, current speed and time left, says so when the network stops moving, and tells you when it retried. You can cancel one file or the whole queue.
  • New — Large files upload in pieces
    Anything over about 10 MB is now sent in chunks instead of one long transfer. A chunk that fails is retried on its own rather than sinking the whole file, and any piece that never arrived is sent again before the file is assembled — so a shaky connection costs you a few seconds instead of the entire upload. With v1.8.0's follow-up, chunks now go out over up to 8 parallel lanes that adapt to your connection, so long-haul uploads finish several times faster.
  • New — Find out why your uploads fail
    A new page at /upload-check runs the upload path end to end from your own network and shows you which of the four steps breaks. If uploads work for your teammates but not for you, this is the page that says why — and gives you something concrete to send us.
  • New — Choose how your screen share degrades
    Screen sharing now has a quality bias: Sharpness keeps the resolution and drops frames instead, which is what you want when someone is reading small text in your DAW; Smoothness gives up resolution first to keep motion fluid. There is also an experimental VP9 option. And the shared tile now carries a live badge with the resolution, frame rate and bitrate actually arriving, so "is it blurry for everyone or just my window" is finally answerable.
  • New — Creative Space closes itself when you are alone
    If you are the only person in a room for five minutes, Synchain disconnects you instead of holding the connection open on a forgotten tab. A banner counts down for the last thirty seconds with a button to stay, and you can rejoin at any time.
  • Improved — Screen sharing looks much better out of the box
    The default bitrate for 1080p at 30fps went from 2.5 to 5 Mbps, and when the network tightens the picture now falls back to 720p instead of 540p. Nothing to turn on — existing shares just look better.
  • Fixed — Reporting a problem no longer hangs on a blank screen
    The screenshot that gets attached when you report a problem could freeze on a white image if anyone in the room had a camera or a screen share running. It now captures correctly, and if it cannot, the report still goes through without it.

1.7.0 — A new mark, and invite links that work

  • Improved — A new Synchain mark
    The new hand-drawn mark now shows up across the app, in your browser tab, on your phone's home screen, and on the card people see when you share a link. On mobile the address bar picks up the brand colour too. The Chinese site now carries the same English tagline as everywhere else.
  • Improved — Invite links that look like something
    When you send someone a project invite, the card your chat app shows used to say “Sign In”. It now says plainly that this is a Synchain project invite. And when they open it, they can see who invited them, which project, and what they'd join as — before deciding whether to sign up.
  • Fixed — Voice control can reach these buttons now
    The changelog button on the home page and the language switcher on mobile could not be activated by saying the words printed on them: the name they reported to assistive technology did not match their visible text. Both are fixed.

1.6.0 — Analytics and a privacy policy

  • Security — Website analytics, and a way to say no
    We now use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. A card appears in the bottom-left corner on your first visit and you can simply decline — declining leaves the site fully working, it only stops the counting. In the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and Quebec nothing is sent at all until you accept.
  • New — Privacy policy
    A new page setting out what we collect, why, who else touches it, which countries it travels to, and what you can ask us to do about it. Written in all three languages and linked from the footer.

1.5.0 — This page

  • New — A public changelog
    Every release now gets an entry here, with the date it shipped. You no longer have to guess whether something changed.

1.4.0 — Feedback replies, rewritten guides

  • New — You hear back on feedback you send
    Feedback you submit now moves through real states, and you get a notification when someone picks it up or resolves it — instead of it disappearing into a form.
  • Improved — Features, FAQ, Download and Use cases rewritten
    All four guide pages were rewritten end to end and the top navigation was reworked so you can move between them in one click.
  • Fixed — The frosted-glass panels look right again in Chrome
    A recent Chrome release stopped applying our blur, which left panels flat and hard to read against busy backgrounds.

1.3.1 — File dialog fix

  • Fixed — The folder picker is no longer cut off
    Moving a file or creating a folder in a deep tree clipped the destination list, so the folder you wanted could be impossible to reach.

1.3.0 — Likes in discussions

  • New — Like a post or reply
    Agree with a take without adding another comment. Authors get a notification, and the count is visible to everyone on the thread.
  • Fixed — No more warped lines across panels
    Workspace panels showed faint distorted streaks over text and file rows on some machines.
  • Fixed — Project cards flip cleanly in Safari
    The back of a card showed through mirrored mid-flip, and the favourite star could trigger a flip when it received keyboard focus.

1.2.0 — Built for the phone

  • Improved — Discussions work properly on a phone
    The composer stays within reach at the bottom of the screen while the thread header scrolls away with the content, so a small screen is mostly the conversation.
  • Improved — Move the Creative Space controls with your thumb
    Drag the control bar up or down to wherever it suits you. Panels no longer jitter and the device check dialog fits the screen.
  • New — Switch language on a phone
    The language switcher is now reachable on small screens from both the landing page and the sign-in screen.
  • Improved — Keyboard and screen reader improvements
    Menus follow the expected keyboard model — arrow keys to move, Escape to close, focus returns where it came from — and avatars without a visible name now announce who they are.

1.1.0 — Clearer sign-up and sign-in

  • Fixed — Sign-in tells you what is actually wrong
    Signing in before confirming your email reported invalid credentials, which sent people off to reset a password that was never the problem. It now says the email is unconfirmed and offers to resend.
  • Improved — A stalled sign-up no longer blocks your email or username
    If you started signing up and never confirmed, retrying with the same details works instead of telling you the account is taken.

1.0.0 — Synchain is live

  • New — First public release
    Real-time hi-fi Creative Space, VST3 direct connect from your DAW, project files, a shared calendar and discussion threads — in the browser, in Chinese, English and French.
